藝術匯聚的十字樞紐,大觀國際表演藝術節

如何走向區域的中心?提問決定了藝術節格局與定位。今年度大觀國際表演藝術節,透過「走向______」匯聚來自世界各方的藝術作品類型,聚集在臺灣東亞的十字路口,藉以跨領域的實驗交織,共同打造未來藝術圖景,呈現面對當下世界的種種體察與省思。
 

如候鳥般逐定藝術節,我們需要什麼交流?

回想過去擔任駐巴黎臺灣文化中心主任期間,負責臺灣與歐盟各國文化各領域的交流,深刻感受國際藝術浪潮的翻騰,國際間各大城市既有的與新興的藝術節,激起一波波如逐水而居的遊牧型觀光效應。此時此刻,須重新審視作為藝術大學的我們,需要什麼交流?
 

不只跨領域,走向超領域

試圖將海外的觸角拉到臺灣,並與在地連結,藉由這次藝術節九檔跨域合作表演,洞見藝術新走向。自戰後在藝術表現諸形式中,如摩斯・康寧漢(Merce Cunningham)對於「身體元素」的詮釋和認知,以及對於「隨機時間」如何注入舞蹈跨域作為核心要素、如何與「空間」和「身體」交互影響,可謂開啟藝術跨領域的重要範式之一。「走向______」在觀念上與其有重要的共通性,那便是從身體與各藝術領域間的關聯性來開啟各種跨界想像。
 

國際視野重磅回歸,走向臺灣品牌

以「新劇場馬戲」表演形式最為人所知的法國當代表演團體─「遺忘劇團L’Oublié(e)」首次來臺演出,作品《墜落的天使》將舞與劇揉合了馬戲與高空鋼索等的特技,將原本固化在傳統領域裡的雜耍概念,在創新中不斷重新演繹、解放,並多次在歐美巡演中獲得廣大迴響。

由國際知名劇場音樂大師「陽光劇團」音樂總監Jean-Jacques Lemêtre、歐洲奧地利林茲劇院的首席舞者Andressa Miyazato、古琴演奏家游麗玉、法國劇場人Christian Dupont、作曲家林琬千共同演出的《末日之花》,透過古琴的餘音悠遠,彷如跨越時空,與西方音樂共舞、交織、即興,在萬靈生機末日的轉瞬,碰撞出無垠火花。

旅德鋼琴家陳必先教授與本校音樂系合作的《藝音琴緣》,共同詮釋貝多芬、布拉姆斯及舒曼的經典室內樂曲目。

具有「當代第一魔笛」美譽的加拿大長笛演奏家雷恩・寇伯(Ron Korb),則是融合了拉丁、凱爾特、世界音樂、爵士、亞洲音樂等風格呈現經典演出《世界咖啡館》。

香港華意堂藝術策劃帶來的華語原創歌劇《鬼戀》,則以改編自徐訏同名小說,透過一場不斷穿梭時空的對話,試問這個時代的你和我,如何為自己找出重生的路向。

在世界個角落都能望見臺藝大畢業校友的身影,這次薈萃了同樣具有西方學養背景,卻不同世代的藝術家,及其團隊之傑出代表作:張婷婷TTCDance獨立製作《時光抽屜》、驫舞劇場《非常感謝您的參與》、四把椅子劇團《遙遠的東方有一群鬼》,他們自海外留學歸國在臺灣當代藝壇發光發熱。除了校友的重磅回歸,由本校跨各系所師生共製的《時光冉冉》也不惶多讓,以多媒體科技影音互動重新詮釋古老的生命原初議題,同時表演者的肢體動能從四方而入,打破鏡框式舞台的單向視聽感受,使觀眾不再只是表演場境外的「旁觀者」,而是參與藝術生產的一份子。「走向______」不是國際表演節目的代工廠,更是創造自產大型跨領域實踐表現的藝術環境。2019大觀國際表演藝術節,讓我們一起走向國際,走向世界。

DAGUAN Performing Arts Festival, the Convergence Hub of Art

How to go toward the center of the region? The question determines the pattern and position of the arts festival. The 2019 DAGUAN Performing Arts Festival, takes “Towards __________”as the topic, has invited different types of world-wide art works and gathers them in Taiwan of East Asia to provide the experimental interaction opportunity among the inter-disciplinary, collaborate with each other to create the future vision of art as well as reveal the awareness and reflection of the situations happened in the world.

Which kinds of interaction we want to receive in this nomad-like art festival?

As recalled the time of being the director in the Centre culturel de Taïwan à Paris, I was in charge with the EU-Taiwan cultural interaction in different fields and had great impression on the twirling of international art wave. The existing and new art festivals around the cities in the world has inspired Nomad-like tourism effect wave after wave. At this moment, we, as a university of art, should reexamine and ask ourselves which kinds of interaction we want to receive.

Not just for cross-field, but go beyond the fields

With the intension of drawing the international art affairs to Taiwan we have the local connection and insight the new direction of the art through the 9 cross-field performances in the art festival. As for the art performance styles after the war, take Merce Cunningham for example, we shall admit that the interpretation and comprehension toward body element, the way how he has introduced “random time” into dancing field and make it as the core element and the way how he interact with “space” through his body is one of the important demonstration in starting the cross-field art performance. The concepts of “Towards _______”have something in common with his, which is to create all kinds of the cross-field imagination by the relationship among the varieties of art fields and the body.

Global perspective into Taiwanese Brand

French famous dance group “L’Oublié(e)” known for its “Cirque Nouveau” performance style, at the first time, performs in Taiwan. The performing piece When Angels Fall is the combination of dancing and drama with the trick of circus and the high wire. It gives the traditional juggling an innovative interpretation and receives tremendous responses when doing the show tour in Europe and USA.

Fleurs du Crepuscule, co-performs by the music director of Le Théâtre du Soleil Jean-Jacques Lemêtre, the principal dancer of TANZLIN.Z Andressa Miyazato and Guqin performer You Li-yu, gives the feeling as if you are across time and space as listening to distant reverberation of guqin. When the music of gugin meets the western music, they dance and melt with each other randomly and brings spark to the doomsday of human being.

The music performance, Chen Pi-hsien & NTUA Chamber Music, co-performed by Chen, Pi-hsien, the pianist residing in German, and the students of Department of Music in the NTUA, will play the classical chamber music of Beethoven, Brahms and Schumann.

Ron Korb, a Canada Flutist, has been known as the “No.1 flutist in the present age”, will perform World cafe, a jazz inflected mix of Latin and Celtic, Asia music and world music.

Promote arts and culture in H.K will perform the chamber opera “Ghost Love,” an adaption of the novel written by Xu Xu. The play tries to help people in this era find out the way how to get reborn through having the conversation across the time and the space,

The alumnus of NTUA is in around the world. At this time, we the artists from different era who are graduated from our school and have studied aboard to have their performance, including the Persistence of Memory, the dance piece TTC Dance dancer Ting Ting Chang produced by herself, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME by Horse Dance Theatre, and We art Ghosts by 4CHAIRS THEATRE, etc. After finished their study aboard, they came back to Taiwan and devoted themselves to become outstanding artists in Taiwan. Other than the return of alumnus, the piece made by the students and teachers from different departments called Epitome of Time is a good one as well. The piece reinterprets the old life issue by interactive multimedia and video with the performers enters from all sides. The stage is no longer a one-way audiovisual experience. Instead of the outsiders, the audiences become parts of the performing piece. “Towards______” is not just the foundries of international performance program, but the art environments for the artists to create, produce and perform their cross discipline experimental performing piece. The 2019 DAGUAN Performing Arts Festival leads us to go toward to the world.
